What We Do?
State Fragility and Displacement Initiative (SFDI) is a student-led group at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto.
The main purpose of SFDI is to create an observatory of fragile states with three main objectives: examining the impact of fragile states on global security, understanding their influence on displacement, and developing policy solutions for humanitarian aid in the context of fragile states.
Impact of Fragile States on Global Security
Fragile states have a significant impact not only on regional security, but also global security.
Impact of Fragile States on Displacement and Refugee Crises
Fragility of states leads to huge internal and international displacements, causing refugee crises such as 2015
Humanitarian Aid
Fragility of states usually results in catastrophic humanitarian crises necessitating international intervention in the form of humanitarian aid. However, effective delivery of humanitarian aid in the context of fragile states is itself a challenge requiring an appropriate policy solution.
